The Full Moon on July 29 occurs in Shravana Nakshatra. Shravana’s symbol is three footprints, its deity is Vishnu, and its shakti is the power to connect diverse elements.

The three footprints refer to Vamana, the two-foot-tall dwarf incarnation of Vishnu. Vamana approached Bali, the king of the demons, who promised to give him whatever he wanted. Vamana asked only for as much territory as he could cover in three steps. When Bali agreed, Vamana expanded to the size of the universe. With three enormous strides, he covered all three worlds, removed the demons from heaven, and restored the gods to their rightful place.

The gods represent our highest values, while heaven symbolizes the place of greatest importance. The most important thing is knowing what is most important—and giving it the highest place in our lives.

Vamana’s three steps, extending through all three worlds, also symbolize Shravana’s ability to connect different parts of life and restore balance. This Full Moon can be helpful for clarifying priorities, bringing scattered elements together, and returning life to its proper order.

Guru Purnima

This Full Moon is also Guru Purnima, the traditional time for honoring our teachers and the wisdom they have given us.

Its occurrence in Shravana is especially appropriate. Shravana is associated with listening, learning, and receiving knowledge. Guru Purnima reminds us to listen carefully to the teachings that guide us and to place the highest wisdom at the center of our lives.
