New Moon in Hasta

There will be a New Moon in Hasta nakshatra at 4:05 am on Wednesday, October 6th. One way of thinking about a New Moon is that it is the beginning of a lunar cycle that takes about a month to complete. In this respect, the nakshatra in which the New Moon takes place will color the following month with its energy. Hasta is a nakshatra symbolized by the hands. It's shakti is the power to get things in the hand. In other words it gives the ability to actualize your desires. This isn't magic. Hands suggest a practical approach to making things happen. Don't be afraid to get your hands dirty by digging in and doing some work to make your desires happen. On the other hand (no pun intended, seriously!) Hasta is also symbolized by two fists, and it can be feisty or combative. The New Moon will take place in a conjunction with Mars and retrograde Mercury, so this is a good month to keep a low profile and to stay out of arguments. However, there are times when it is good to stand up against things that you see as unfair or unjust. In that respect, hasta supports the underdog and those who speak out for social injustice, so let it fly! But if you go that route, please do it gently and respectfully. Om Shanti.
