The Span of Life: Classical and Intuitive Approaches to Predicting Longevity

Few subjects in Vedic astrology are as fascinating—or as challenging—as the question of longevity. How do we assess the span of life? Is it possible to estimate the approximate period of death? How do we approach these questions responsibly, without becoming mechanical or dogmatic?

In this class, we will explore the classical principles of Āyurdaya—the determination of the span of life—while developing a practical, layered approach to judgment. Rather than relying on a single technique, we will learn how to integrate multiple methods into a coherent picture. We will examine longevity through the combined use of Daśā, Bhukti, transits, and Praśna, learning how each contributes to the overall assessment and when each deserves greater weight.

The techniques presented in this course are firmly rooted in the classical tradition, but they are also practical. The most accurate judgments rarely come from applying one rule in isolation. Instead, they emerge from weighing multiple indications, recognizing patterns, and allowing disciplined intuition to work hand in hand with sound astrological principles. This class is designed to help you develop both the technical skills and the confidence needed to make these difficult judgments.

Our exploration will extend beyond the technical question of lifespan. Vedic astrology views life and death as part of a much larger continuum. We will examine the philosophical foundations of karma, the process of death, rebirth, past lives, and the soul's continuing journey, placing the subject of longevity within the broader framework of the Vedic worldview.

Whether your goal is to strengthen your predictive abilities, deepen your understanding of classical longevity techniques, or gain greater insight into one of astrology's most profound mysteries, this course offers a thoughtful, practical, and spiritually grounded approach to the subject
