Lunar Eclipse September 7, 2025
Lunar Eclipse September 7, 2025

September 07, 2025
There will be a total lunar eclipse on September 7, 2025. The eclipse takes place in Purvabhadra Nakshatra, at 21 degrees of Aquarius.
Purvabhadra carries the shakti, or power, to elevate consciousness. Yet its symbol—a funeral cot—reminds us of the impermanence of life. Aquarius, as a sign, is associated with groups, teams, and community, so this eclipse invites us to reflect on the temporary nature of worldly existence and to look toward something deeper and more enduring. It encourages turning inward to discover the inner foundation of the self: pure awareness.
Mercury will aspect this eclipse from Purva Phalguni Nakshatra, located in Leo, bringing a more creative and relational influence. While Purva Phalguni is associated with procreation and birth, Purvabhadra is linked to death and endings. Together, these two nakshatras point to a powerful opportunity: a time to release what no longer serves, while also moving forward in new, creative directions.
This eclipse is expected to display a reddish hue, commonly referred to as a “blood moon.” It will last for about 82 minutes, making it one of the longest lunar eclipses of the decade—and one of the most powerful. If the red coloration appears as predicted, it suggests the influence of Mars, pointing to themes of upheaval, violence, and aggression. Although Mars does not directly aspect the eclipse, it will be transiting through the 22nd drekkana from the eclipse point, increasing the probability of earthquakes, military conflict, or political volatility.
Interestingly, this eclipse touches sensitive points in the USA chart as well as the chart for Venezuela, highlighting the current tensions or conflict between the two nations. Eclipses often begin to show their results in the month before they occur, and can continue to have effects for three to six months afterward. We may see a surge in discord near the day of the eclipse and in the week that follows. It may also correspond with a rise in protests or unrest in other parts of the world.
From a spiritual standpoint, eclipses are intended to turn the mind inward. For most people, this is a valuable time to connect with like-minded individuals who share similar ideals and aspirations. The day of an eclipse is traditionally good for meditation, quiet reflection, and adopting a lighter diet or fasting.
Even though the world is currently going through a time of discord, that doesn’t mean you need to feel disturbed internally. On the contrary—turn off the news, shut down your computer, disconnect from social media, and sit quietly. Feel the peace inside. You know what they say:
“Life is like an orange—it tastes bitter on the outside, but it’s sweet and juicy on the inside.”
It’s corny, but it’s true.
The recommended mantra for this eclipse is:
Om Ajaikapade Namah
(ॐ अजैकपादे नमः)
